Re: Generic board design questions

Yes

I can use any size I like as its just 2 rows of pins and the strips of pins come in 40 pin lengths

But I'm not sure if most people would use a board that is that big (long)

Re: Help with porting...

There are some differences in where things like "true" are defined

Its defined in /STM32F1/cores/maple/wirish.h for us

Re: Help with porting...

I normally just remove all the progmem statements and see what compile errors I get. ( as you know, PROGMEM is AVR specific and is unnecessary on ARM processors as static strings and data are either automatically put in flash, or you can help the compiler to know which strings etc dont change by dec...

Re: Arduino on Nordic BLE nRF51822

The Arduino IDE uses GDB to upload. I use the command written my Rick Kimball ( on this site) for the STM32 upload using GDB. Its just the commands to connect and scan and uoload, rolled into a single command line. You should not see errors when you run the target extended remote. I would also try a...

Re: Generic board design questions

I was going for a breadboard friendly layout, like the Maple mini, with 2 rows of 20 pins. ( through holes) But I have 46 GPIO pins ( There are 48 GPIO, but 2 of GPIOs are optionally used by the 32.678kHz RTC crystal, which IHMO is an important feature) And I need Gnd, VDD 3.3, and also the 5V input...

Generic board design questions

I'm designing something like a Maple mini, but using a Nordic nRF52 MCU (Bluetooth) But I have more GPIO's available than the Blue Pill or Maple mini has pins. I think I'd need around 50 pins e.g. DIL with 26 on each side, but this seems a really big board and would not plug into an existing project...

Re: PrintF via SWO

Did you try adding that define into either boards.txt or platform.txt so that it gets applied to all files that are complied I suspect the problem is that it needs to be defined globally and if you only define it in the sketch it only gets applied to includes directly included by the sketch not by a...

Re: Kicad

@racemaniac Thanks Thats the schematic symbol generator I found, but I'd already created the symbol I wanted, before I found that site. I've been struggling to make a footprint for a "AQFN73 7 x 7 mm package" but I think I have now created a basic footprint that will be good enough to do b...

Re: Kicad

There is a Eagle symbol for the maple mini on leaflab's repo, and Its possible to convert to kicad. see. http://hackaday.com/2015/12/27/eagle-to-kicad-made-easy/ Failing that, you may have to make a library symbol, which is not that hard. I had to make a symbol for a bluetooth chip yesterday, but it...

Re: Rogers postbag - FM radio band transmitter

Accessing the i2c eerom on those FM transmitter boards might be easier with a suitable clip on adapter. Search ebay for "SOIC8 SOP8 Flash Chip IC Test Clips Socket Adpter BIOS/24/25/93 Programmer" http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/2QAAAOSwHnFVzeNa/s-l500.jpg I used one of these to hack the 24...
