tone() and notone() have been added to the libmaple core

Thanks to @enif

tone() and notone() have been added to the LibMaple core

An example using using tone, I found here http://www.princetronics.com/supermariothemesong/

melodyPin is set to PB0

Probably not the most amazing example, but its good enough for testing ;-)

I'm sure I have more important things to do than strap a left over tealight foil to a 12mm piezo.
It makes a good resonator though, and is way more fun than doing the household chores. :D

Something got messed up

I'll need to take both files out again and figure out why its not compiling now :-(

Edit.

I'm not sure why tone didn't to compile. Possibly something to do with upgrading to Arduino 1.6.13. I've trued to do a fix for this, but I'm not sure why it was needed

I'll need to double check if its still working

I'm sure it compiled OK under 1.6.12 but I just got compile errors on 1.6.13

I'll need to retest if it still works at all, but I fixed the compile issue and recomitted to github

Actually, if you have a beeper wired up, you could try it and let me know.

If I add that include that, it compiles and runs fine with the board manager version 2016.11.29 files. My board is quietly tweeting away in front of me as we speak. :D
