It actually works perfectly well in my experience with Leonardo and Micro boards. I can't remember if I ever used it on the Due, though.

For 11€ I would rather buy a black F4 board or the F4 mini version.
It is faster and has more RAM.

But the F4 core is not as mature as the F1 one, is it?

It depends on what do you need.
USB serial, GPIO, SPI (with DMA) is working out of the box.

Right ! Core maturity is depending of what you wish to do.
Many libs can be shared between F1 and F4.
For example, almost 2 years ago, I've done lot of things with Netduino2Plus.
Networking, SdFat, LCD shield, etc...
