If that is an AHT10, that looks fairly close to our guesses. for that 'thin film' I'd guess ordinary paper glue is possibly close enough.

Just build your own sensor instead of struggling with an I2C bus.

The term "more compatible" is far too broad to be used here without context and acknowledgment of limitations and caveats.
It is, a hack but a well executed one.
