Possibility to update the STM32F4-Discovery ST-Link/V2 to V2-A

Post by EmbedTux »

Hello,

I look to start a project with my old STM32F4-Discovery board. If I'm not wrong, it is exactly the same as the new STM32F4-Dico1 board that support the ST-Link/V2-A. So, I don't understand why it seem not possible to update the ST-Link firmware to become a V2-A. I would like to get the VCP support.

Does anybody know if this is possible?

thanks!

Thanks MrBrunette.

I think I wasn't be clear enough. What I want, it is to have the ST-Link on the STM32F4-Dicovery board support the VCP to get the configuration shown in the section 6.1.3 of the user manual.

But the note (a) in the section 6.1 suggest that it is not available. But, I don't see why as both F4 discovery board seem to have the same schematic.

I tried to update the firmware of the ST-Link with the STM32CubeProgrammer and with the LINK007 update package.

In both case I end with the version V2J37S0 which is not listed in the release note. For the ST-Link/V2, it is supposed to be V2J37S7. Also, the ST-Link/V2-A is not mentioned either.
