one of the concern would be the hardware landscape will become increasingly proprietary.
the old pc industry is fading away, replaced by all non-compatible motherboards and components.
and same with the os as well. no 2 peripherals in future can you buy 'off the shelf'
no 2 boards are made with the same pinouts or buses or interfaces.
many of them probably simply directly smd soldered on
