Of course it also works with the addition of said lines to the boards.txt
But you have to be cautious with newer versions of sloeber. Jantje (creator and maintainer of sloeber) introduced a boards.sloeber.txt which essentially is a copy of the original, downloaded boards.txt. So you have to either change both files, or delete the .sloeber one (and hope it gets recreated - haven't tested that).
Maybe good old reboot solved some problems here.
Strange enough, as I openend sloeber again this morning, the -g option was unchecked again.
Maybe that was the issue with my efforts failing on friday?
However, I am very happy to have debug capabilities now thanks to the help of the community here
