Bluepill - is it OK to remove the 32K crystal?

Hi all,
I plan to design a custom board with a circuit that is based on the bluepill board. Is it ok to not populate the 32K cyrstal? Do I need to change anything in software for this to work?
The board will run at full power, no sleep and such, and does not need real time clock other than the stm32duino millis() and micros().
