No one even mentioned the new Raspberry Pi Pico?
Re: No one even mentioned the new Raspberry Pi Pico?
Oh actually no they're not, great stuff - I should read things more carefully when I've just woken up, I thought they were using a full blown pi, due to the shape of the carrier board. oops.
I kinda wans one of these now

Yawn ...
OK... I concede the RD2040 has some niceties BUT the ESP32 RF section can be powered-down if your power-budget is critical.
As for price, the two are within a $1 of each other and I really did not shop around for a lower price:

So...
ESP32 more SRAM and Bluetooth + WiFi for under $1 extra. Big Plus is Arduino core is available now and mature.
Just saying ... options abound with the diversity of choices today.

sure some competition is healthy & maybe pico should add wifi too

Well... now I got something cooler to show...
I've made my Pico emulate a NES and play Castlevania.
This game is very high CPU intensive and making it work in 60 FPS was a nice challenge.
High quality Sound/FX and smooth video graphics.
Pico dual Core at 250MHz => VGA 8bpp/256 colors + PDM (for sound) + PS/2 Keyboard controlling it.
Everything in a single MCU board.

Raspberry Pi Pico is a great new microcontroller board, but it's still early days. I'd stick with the ESP32 for now, but the Pico is definitely worth keeping an eye on.
